Club Tennis is headed to Surprise, Ariz., in April for a national tournament.
Elon had two teams (A & B) compete in February in the USTA Southern Sectional Championships in Auburn, Ala. Elon went undefeated until the championship match against UNC. Christian Smoke and Will Hemminger beat the UNC men’s doubles team in a tiebreak, Chandler McCray beat his singles opponent 6-2 and Ian MacInnes and Kate Sims came back from a 1-4 deficit to win 6-4 and force overtime. Unfortunately, they came two games short of winning it all, but were still able to receive a bid to the National Championship in Arizona!
Even though the B team struggled a little bit throughout the tournament they ended the weekend with back-to-back wins. Players for the weekend included: Elon A-Ian MacInnes, Chandler McCray, Will Hemminger, Christian Smoke, Kate Sims, Alexandra Solhjou and Elon B- Eryn Godwin, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Kristin Laub, Lear Haninovich, Ryan Bhangdia, Nicholas Solhjou, Garcian D’Cruz, Anne Peyton Leitch
