13 organizations collaborate for Aware Fair – April 18

Interested in learning more about Elon’s awareness programs and organizations? Join us for Aware Fair on Friday, April 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Speaker’s Corner outside Moseley and stop by each table to participate in interactive and educational activities, get free food and giveaways and more.

The 13 participating organizations include:

  • Sierra Club
    Ever get confused which items are compostable? Learn which items in Elon dining locations are compostable in an interactive activity to make your next trip to the Winter Garden Café easier.
     
  • Amnesty
    Decorate banners, sign postcards and petitions related to human rights and social justice, and sample food from the Co-Op.
     
  • Invisible Children
    Answer trivia questions to win t-shirts and pick up yummy treats. Confused about what happened after Kony 2012, and Kony 2012: Part 2? Talk to organization leaders to learn more about what’s happening with the LRA.
     
  • Oxfam
    Learn more about poverty and hunger through Oxfam’s visual representation activity.
     
  • SPARKS
    Write down your definition of consent, learn about incorporating smart, healthy choices in your everyday life, and pick up Consent is Sexy t-shirts and giveaways.
     
  • Spectrum
    Participate in an “Inqueeries” activity, get your questions about LGBTQIA communities answered, and pick up giveaways and treats.
     
  • Elon Feminists (EFFECT)
    Take a photo in a face-in-hole of Rosie the Riveter for a social media campaign, pick up information sheets, and get giveaways.
     
  • Interfaith Community at Elon (ICE)
    Participate in discussions related to interfaith, pick up information sheets, and get food and candy.
     
  • Students for Peace & Justice and STAND
    Learn more about what SPJ and STAND are doing on campus, and receive food from the Co-Op.
     
  • Periclean Scholars
    Learn about projects of social change in communities in Appalachia, Haiti, and Honduras.
     
  • Elon Volunteers!
    Learn more about how to get involved in community service.

WSOE will DJ social change music and host a live broadcast, featuring brief interviews with organization leaders about their causes via a wireless radio board that spans Burlington and Greensboro.

Hosted by the Elon Volunteers! Awareness Team, the purpose of the event is to increase collaboration between Elon organizations that share a common goal in spreading awareness on campus and to help students become better acclimated not only with what each organization is about, but also with ways they can get involved in supporting these causes.
