The New Urban Studio for responsible, sustainable architecture is focused on community-oriented design-build work and is under the direction of Professor Robert Charest, Associate Professor of Architecture and Design. The studio, which was completely built by students from repurposed intermodal shipping containers, is home to the new ENS BA concentration in Responsible Design and Building Arts, and hosts service-learning courses where students complete design-build products for community partners in Alamance County. Recent projects include classroom furniture, the renovation of community spaces and the construction of several micro dwellings. .
