Be prepared to count-off your song. Typically, you’ll give a two-measure count-off. If the song is in 4/4, you’ll say: 1… 2… 1, 2, 3, 4 and set the tempo. This takes a little practice, especially on sings with pick-up notes.
Drummers: do NOT play or keep time as you count off the tune. Just use your voice.
