Transportation to Medical and Mental Health Appointments
If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Elon University does not provide transportation for appointments to Student Health Services or Counseling Services located in the Ellington Center. Students who may be too ill to walk or drive to Ellington Center may consider medical treatment through TimelyCare . TimelyCare services are available 24 hours a day/365 days a year from anywhere in the United States. There is no additional cost to the student. Also, students who are transported by ambulance to any medical facility are responsible for the full cost of the emergency transport service.
Students who are scheduled for off-campus medical or mental health appointments and need transportation may contact the Office of the Dean of Students at (336) 278-7200 during normal business hours to request an Uber Health ride link. Students with an existing Uber account (or other ride service) may elect to use that account.
Important Information about Uber Health:
No Uber Account required: Uber Health rides do not require the patient to have an Uber account or even a smartphone. Uber Health is designed to provide transportation for individuals who may not have access to or be comfortable using the Uber app. The Office of the Dean of Students can schedule rides for students through the universities Uber Health Dashboard. Students will be notified of their ride details via text message or phone call.
– Cost Responsibility: Students are fully responsible for the cost of the Uber Health ride. Charges will be applied to the student’s account by the Office of the Dean of Students.
– Round-Trip Option: A return ride can be arranged by asking for a round-trip link at the time of the request.
Tips for Using Uber Health:
– Call Early: Contact the Dean of Students’ Office at (336) 278-7200 at least two hours before your appointment time whenever possible. For early appointments, call the day before. The office cannot guarantee an Uber driver will be available for your scheduled appointment.
– Preventive Health Measures: If you have symptoms of illness, please use preventive measures (e.g., hand sanitizer, a mask) before entering the vehicle.
Alternative Transportation Option:
Students may also use the Alamance County Transportation Authority (ACTA) for transportation to off-campus medical appointments.
