Holocaust survivor to speak Nov. 3 at Elon College

ELON COLLEGE – Holocaust survivor Ben Jacobs will talk about his experiences as a dentist in Nazi concentration camps Wednesday Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Whitley Auditorium on the campus of Elon College. The speech is free and open to the public.

Jacobs, who was born Berek Jakubowicz, was a Jewish dental student living in Poland when he was sent to concentration camps in 1941. He served as a dentist in the camps, working on the teeth of both the living and the dead. He also survived the bombing of a German ocean liner by the British Royal Air Force in 1945.

Jacobs has since written a book titled “The Dentist of Auschwitz: A Memoir,” in which he relates his experiences about life in the camps.
