Interested in Peace and Justice?

Then might I recommend an organization by the name of Students for Peace and Justice. We’re a group of progressive activists working toward, that’s right, a more peaceful and just world. Our activities seek to affect positive change both on and off campus. We have various “full-time” campaigns that run throughout the year. Campaigns against Modern Day Slavery and Sweatshops are among the mix. We also have a campaign working to have Fair Trade Coffee as the only type of coffee served on campus. And we’re always looking to expand with additional campaigns (new and ‘crazy’ ideas are always welcomed!).

In addition, there are other events that we participate in. We send a group each year to protest the School of Americas in Georgia (which has trained many Latin American militants who go on to torture, assassinate and oppress — all skills learned at this “School of Assassins”).

Also this fall, we’re trying to send a group to a big anti-war march in Washington, D.C., which is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 24.

More information can be found at our Web site (http://www.elon.edu/sfpj). The best way to stay up to date on our activities is to sign up for our list-serv by sending a blank message to sfpeaceandjustice-subscribe@lists.riseup.net. Also be sure to come by our table at the Organization Fair. We look forward to meeting you.
