Adam Colton ’05 completed a 3,000-mile skateboarding trip on Sunday, Oct. 23 in Springfield, Va. Colton and two friends began the journey Aug. 2 in Newport, Ore., to raise money for GreenSkate Laboratory, an environmentally aware non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. GreenSkate has built a skate park from recycled materials for at-risk teenagers in Washington. Colton and his friends hope to raise $34,000 for a building that GreenSkate plans to convert to an art and learning center.
The skaters made the journey thanks to donations from sponsors and the generosity of people they met along the route. Restaurants provided free meals and home owners and hotel operators offered free lodging at various points during the trip.
Colton majored in communications at Elon, with a concentration in film.
