Hal Walker’s event planning class donated $500 to Brenda Ingle, executive director of Loaves & Fishes food bank, on the final day of classes, May 9. The proceeds came from “Tiki-Tourney,” a sand volleyball event hosted by the class on Sunday, April 23 at Elon. The class effort also included a collection of canned goods for the agency.
Approximately 14 teams participated in the event, with participants earning a variety of prizes for their efforts. The winners earned a generous meal package for each team member and their guest from Hooters; second prize was a gift certificate for each team member for Sidetrack Grill; and third prize was a free meal at Sandy’s Steaks & Subs. Other sponsors for this event were Aramark; A+ Tans; Gold’s Gym, Paradise Printers, West End Cinemas and Checker Board Grill. The class extends their appreciation to all sponsors and participating teams for making this a successful event.
