Come see posters and demonstrations done by students in GST364 “Imagining Technology.” Poster presentations will cover all aspects of pre-20th century science and technology, including how the technology works, the historical climate into which the invention was introduced, and the impacts of these technologies on society (religion, business, politics, economics, and everyday life, etc).
Some of the student project topics include: newspapers, looms, catapults and trebuchets, firearms, swords, wireless telegraphs, printing press and movable type, the typewriter, silk, photography, Arabic numerals, the bicycle, the bayonet, batteries, paper, fireworks, sugar, beer brewing, the abacus, the cotton gin, aspirin, glass, distilled liquor, and toilets.
Refreshments will be served. Yum!
