View a Total Eclipse of the Moon on Saturday

On Saturday, March 3rd, a “blood red” moon will rise over Elon as it passes through the Earth’s shadow. Weather permitting, the Elon University Department of Physics will host a public viewing of this eclipse. From 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, we will be pointing the university’s telescopes at the eclipsed Moon and other astronomical objects of interest, including the planets Venus and Saturn.

Interested observers should come to the front desk of the Koury Center at the northeast entrance before 7:00 PM. From there, people will be directed to the rooftop observing platform. Please call 336-278-6328 (x6328) after 6:00 PM on March 3rd to learn if the weather permits us to hold this event.
