Crawford publishes book on adolescent learning

Glenda Crawford, professor of education, has published the second edition of her book titled "Brain-based Teaching with Adolescent Learning in Mind." Details...

In this edition of the book, Crawford examines the newest research on adolescent brain development and provides a structure for connecting the research to students’ social, emotional and cognitive developmental needs.

The book also presents how-to strategies for motivating teens with inquiry, relevance and collaboration, as well as links to relevant Web sites.

Each chapter includes Adolescent-Centered Teaching (ACT) models with sample content lessons and scenarios that can be tailored for students with varying backgrounds, levels of English proficiency, prior knowledge, abilities and interests.

Crawford has worked with young learners for more than 30 years and has written three books on structuring classrooms for adolescent thinking and learning.
