Crenshaw essay wins journal’s top prize

An essay written by Paul Crenshaw, adjunct assistant professor of English, has been recognized by the literary journal Shenandoah.

Crenshaw’s essay, titled “Military Days,” received the Thomas H. Carter Prize as the journal’s best essay during the most recent volume year. The award is named for the late Thomas Carter, co-founder of Shenandoah, the literary journal of Washington and Lee University.

As the most recent winner, Crenshaw will choose next year’s winner of the Carter Prize.
