Apperson and her research mentor, Associate Professor of Communications Brooke Barnett, will present a poster titled “CNN’s Breaking News Coverage of Terrorism Across the Globe.”
Posters on the Hill is hosted by the Council on Undergraduate Research, a national organization that promotes and enhances mentored research by undergraduates. Students are selected competitively from a national pool of applicants. Sixty U.S. students are chosen to participate each year, highlighting the best research from colleges and universities nationwide.
Students and their mentors are invited to take part in a general poster session and meet with members of Congress to ask for continued support of research at the undergraduate level.
Apperson, who presented her work last week at the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research at Dominican University in California, is only the second student from North Carolina to participate in Posters on the Hill. A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student was chosen in 2005.
