XM Radio to air program produced by Elon Television Services

Jeanne Robertson
XM Radio, a national satellite radio service with nearly nine million subscribers, will air a program produced by Elon University Television Services on Nov. 12, 14 and 17. The program features professional speaker and humorist Jeanne Robertson, an Elon University trustee.

“Jeanne Robertson –  Flat-out Funny at the Paramount” was recorded at the Paramount Theater in Burlington in May and released in July.  A crew of nine Elon staff and students handled the production under the direction of Linda Lashendock, assistant director of instructional technology  for television services. XM Radio will broadcast the 1 hour 17 minute program in its entirety four times during one week and promote the program across it’s 170 channels.

Robertson mentions Elon University numerous times in this program. XM has previously aired another of Robertson’s CDs, “Southern Style,” which was also produced by Elon Television Services. Stories from several of the humorist’s CDs air daily on the network’s Laugh USA, The Family Comedy Channel. The feature set for November will air four times on “Comedy Pinata,” a program that spotlights one performer a week in complete, uninterrupted presentations.

XM subscribers can listen to “Flat-out Funny” on XM’s Laugh USA Channel 151, The Family Comedy Channel. Non-subscribers can log on to XM via the Internet at www.xmradio.com for a free trial run during Robertson’s show. The program will air at these times:

• Monday, November 12  — 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST
• Wednesday, November 14 — noon EST
• Saturday, November 17  — 4 p.m. EST

In addition to Lashendock, Elon staff members who contributed to producing the program included Jeff James, Jason “J” McMerty,  Bryan Baker, Julie Prouty and Marion Aitcheson. Students involved in the project were Amy Clark, Brian Fink and Lydia Graeff.

Robertson, a native of Graham, NC, averages 85-90 presentations to corporations and associations each year.  A former Miss North Carolina and Miss Congeniality in the Miss America pageant, Robertson is known for using G-rated humor grounded in stories about true, everyday experiences. She has been awarded every top honor in her profession. She and her husband Jerry are avid supporters of Elon Athletics and are the 2007 Elon University recipients of the Southern Conference’s Distinguished Service Award.
