Students invited to register for Sports Business Conference

The Leisure and Sport Management Society of Elon University would like to invite students to attend its 3rd Annual Sport Business Conference on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the LaRose Digital Theatre inside the Koury Business Center.  This conference will include six industry professionals representing intercollegiate athletics, corporate sponsorship/marketing, arena/facility management, legal aspects, and event management.

Speakers include the following:

Stoke G. Caldwell
Caldwell is a partner and member of the Board of Directors of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. in Charlotte, N.C. Stoke’s practice includes various aspects of sport and corporate law. From a sports law perspective, he represents a variety of NASCAR and other series teams, drivers, sponsors, agents, crew members, licensors and licensees in contract negotiations and disputes, licensing, sponsorships, personal services and endorsements

Doreen Lumpkin
Lumpkin is the Manager of the new Guest Services Division of the Greensboro Coliseum complex.

Joan LeMahieu
LeMahieu Serves as president of The Parade Company and executive director for the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation.

Larry Perkins
Perkins has served as the assistant general manager of the RBC Center, home of the 2006 Stanley Cup Champion, Carolina Hurricanes, since 2000.

Michael Beale
Beale serves as the assistant athletic director for marketing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

Dave Cagianello
Cagianello is vice president and regional managing director for GM R*Works in the South Central Region located in Irving, Texas.  He is responsible for leading the agency’s efforts in the negotiation, planning and management of sponsorships, promotions and event

Participants will have the opportunity to acquire insightful information and network through a general assembly concerning how each professional has succeeded in their respective industry along with career advice.  In addition to the general assembly, private breakout sessions will allow participants the opportunity to connect with speakers on a more personal level.

This will be a terrific networking opportunity for many Elon students.  Registration is $30 before the conference and $40 at the door. The event includes lunch.
