Announcing WSOE Records! Interviews April 14-17

WSOE Records is a new recording label that is being launched by Elon University’s radio station, WSOE 89.3.   Goals for this new endeavor are to promote local music, provide fund raising for the Alamance-Burlington School System’s arts program, and to give Elon students experience working with all aspects of music production.

Over the course of a year WSOE records will produce one compilation music recording consisting of a variety of local talent.  The collection will be packaged and sold to our community with proceeds benefiting the Alamance-Burlington Schools System’s arts program.

 
Spring – assemble committee and preplan.
 
Summer and early fall –  record and mix.
 
Fall – activate business plan, master, implement art, duplication.
 
Late Fall – distribution.

We are currently trying to fill the following committee positions:

A&R – Artist and Repertoire – This position will be the contact for participating artist.  He/she will be expected to assist in selecting talent and scheduling recording times.  This person should be passionate about music and can expect to do some local travel to find and meet with non-Elon artists. 

Publicist – The publicist will be responsible for all public relations for the label on campus, and more importantly in the Alamance County community. This includes writing press releases and promoting the upcoming releases for the label. This would also include organizing all components of a record release party.

Business Director – This person will be responsible for handling all business components of the record label including, but not limited to, managing the budget and working with local businesses to establish funding and promotion for the CD.  It is preferred, but not required, that this person be pursuing a degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.

Art Director – The primary responsibilities of the Art Director will include the creation of artwork for the annual album cover, album booklet, and other promotional materials.  This person should expect to work heavily with the Publicist and Web Designer for any creative visuals they may need for their respective positions.  This person should be talented in the realm of art, preferably with some experience in applications such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Web Design – The Internet Director overseeing web design would be in charge of website maintenance. As a new organization, this would require the creation and design of new website from scratch. They would work closely with the art director in creating a logo for the record label. Adobe Dreamweaver experience and proficiency is required.

(6) Producers/Recording Engineers – Producers and recording engineers will conduct the recording process. This includes setting up the studio, micing talent, recording, and mixing each track of the record. Knowledge of Protools audio systems is a plus.  Recording and mixing sessions will include on the job training.  Some session will be done in the summer.
