Fasting for farm workers on April 18

When you sink your teeth into that juicy apple from Harris Teeter, do you ever think about where it came from or how it got here?

Students from the Social Reformers and Labor Movements GST, in conjunction with the Truitt Center, are hosting a 10-hour fast to support and devote some consideration for the farm workers who provide us with all our sustenance.

Join us in fasting during the day, and then in breaking the fast together at an awareness event all about food in the Truitt Center, beginning at 4 p.m. We will have a speaker from a local community garden and a few students speakers talking about Elon’s community garden, migrant farm workers and local farms in North Carolina, and Smithfield meat industries. Not to mention, some tasty food from local farms at the end of the night!

We hope to see you there!
