The award is given each year to an organization that has made a significant contributionto ESNC’s operations.  ESNC is one ofLive Oak’s five clients and was particularly grateful for the agency’s work on“Campout! Carolina,” an awareness-building campaign implemented in the fall of2007.

The award was presented at ESNC’sannual meeting on April 9.  During the meeting, Live Oak representativesgave a presentation about the success of Campout! Carolina in its first yearand discussed plans for the second year of the campaign.  The agency also announced plans for a new ESNCworkplace campaign called the “One Environment Network” to be launched laterthis spring.

“Campout! Carolina” is astatewide campout that encourages families, friends and community groups topitch a tent in their backyards, unplug any non-essential appliances in theirhouseholds and enjoy the environment in North Carolina. The “One EnvironmentNetwork” empowers young leaders to be a source of change within theirorganizations — both indoors, by creating “Green Teams” within theirworkplaces, and outdoors, with the opportunity to volunteer with one of ESNC’spartner organizations.

Heather Beard, executive directorof ESNC, said, “[We have] planned to launch a statewide event to boost ourvisibility and name recognition for many years, but never had the resources todo so until Live Oak put their time and talents to forwarding our mission.”

Beard continued, commenting onher experience with Live Oak: “I have had a great time working with the LiveOak staff, and have been very impressed with their grasp of the challengesfacing ESNC, and how those challenges could be addressed using two very welltargeted communications campaigns: Campout! Carolina and the One EnvironmentNetwork.

“I give both campaigns creditfor building ESNC’s momentum at a pivotal time in our organization’sdevelopment, and for creating a foundation for new partnerships that will allowESNC to have a much greater impact on the environment in North Carolina. The partnership with this group has felt like an extension of the ESNCstaff and has exponentially expanded what we could have accomplished on ourown.”
