Faculty awarded for work with first-year students

The 2008 Faculty Assisting New Students (F.A.N.S.) have been announced: Earl Danieley, Janna Anderson, Andi Metts, Chris Leupold, Paula Patch, Glenn Scott and Amanda Tapler.

The F.A.N.S program, coordinated by New Student Orientation, is designed to ensure that new students have contact with professors from the moment they arrive on campus.  The selected faculty members were chosen by the freshman class for their dedication to helping new students, their enthusiasm for Elon and their passion for teaching.

F.A.N.S are essential to the move-in day process and they are invited to attend events prior to move-in day, allowing them to become acquainted with members of the New Student Orientation Staff.  Emily Ivey, director of New Student Orientation, said that being selected to serve as a F.A.N.S speaks to the impact these faculty members have had on the freshman this past year.

“We are excited for the 2008 F.A.N.S. to assist with the transition of over 1300 students to Elon’s campus this fall,” she said.
