One Elon honors student and three Elon alumni have had papers accepted for presentation at the International Studies Association – South Annual Conference to be held at Randolph-Macon College in October. All will present on the panel “International Terrorism: Perceptions of Threat.”
Victoria Davis, a senior honors fellow, will present “Terrorism and Diplomacy: A Comparative Study of the U.K., Japan, and the US.”
Michael Donofrio ’08 will present “Selling Jihad: How and Why Insurgents and Terrorists are Winning the PR War.”
Julie Kenneally ’08 will present a paper developed from her Elon honors thesis work with political science professor Rudy Zarzar: “Women who Kill and the Media that Make them Famous: A Study of how Media Cover Female Suicide Terrorism.”
Alex Demosthenes ’08 will present “Latin American Reaction to Neoliberal Policy and the Globalization of World Politics: Ecuador as a Case Study” at two different conferences: The Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies (2008 conference at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas) and The North Central Council of Latin Americanists (2008 conference at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater).
