Senior Class Choice Awards & Picnic on Sept. 8

“Nickelodeon: Remembering the Good Stuff” is the theme for Monday night when Elon seniors gather in Alumni Gym for the Senior Class Choice Awards, an informative and social meeting to prepare students for their final year at the university.

Activities begin at 6 p.m.

Elon President Leo M. Lambert will give the senior year charge, with additional remarks by Assistant Registrar Susan Patton and Tom Vecchione, the new executive director of Career Services.

Among the topics to be discussed: The senior class gift, selected this summer through an online survey. Mandatory graduation requirements and Career Center services are also on the agenda.

“This year is going to be different,” said senior class president Danielle Durst. “The senior class officers and I want to leave a mark and do senior year our way – memorable.”

The event, which features movie trailers, music and slideshow photos, concludes with a movie and picnic on the outside lawn. T-shirts will be distributed on the Williamson Avenue side of the Koury Athletic Center.

“We think reminding seniors about the carefree – good natured shows of Nickelodeon will create an inviting and playful atmosphere to senior events throughout the year,” said senior class vice president Stacy Laue.

Programs will be named after some of Nickelodeon’s most popular television shows: “Salute Your Seniors,” “Wild and Crazy Seniors” and “GUTS- Living On Your Own,” to name a few.
