Elon Mock Trial to attend the Mid-South Invitational Tournament at MTSU

The Elon Mock Trial program will compete in their second tournament of the year this coming weekend (November 14-15, 2008).  The team will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to the campus of Middle Tennessee State University to compete in the Mid-South Invitational Tournament.  Elon will send one team of eight students from all majors and departments to compete at the tournament.  The team will compete against 53 other teams from 30 universities. 

Among the teams in competition will be Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Saint Louis University and University of Tennessee.  Fellow Sounthern Conference schools Samford University and University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, will also be in attendance.

Elon Mock Trial looks to improve upon their performance at their first tournament, the Carolina Classic, held on Elon’s campus about a month ago.  The team has been diligently preparing since that tournament, meeting two and three times a week for more 2 hours at a time.  

The Elon students that will be competing this weekend in Tennessee are: Lauren Nichols ’08,  Amanda Haefner ’08, Carolyn Baumgarten ’11, Robert Brafford ’11, Amelie Busch ’11, Kristen Delforge ’11, Jon Keller ’11, and Evan Glover ’12.

The team is coached and accompanied by William Warihay, second year law student at Elon School of Law, and Matrice Williams, adjunct political science professor.
