Elon physical therapy students, faculty & family volunteer for Special Olympics

FUNfitness is a physical therapy component of the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes initiative which is designed to assess and improve flexibility, functional strength and balance by educating participants, families and coaches about the importance of flexibility, strength and balance.  Volunteers provided a hands-on opportunity for participants to learn about physical therapy during a FUNfitness screening event in High Point November 8th at the NC Special Olympics Fall Games.  Department of physical therapy education faculty Dr. Daryl Lawson, his 13 year old son Rhett, Dr. Robin Waldron, and DPT students Amber Hill & Glen Saldanha were among the many volunteers assisting Olympic athletes during the day’s events.  Follow this link for more photos of the event, look for Elon faces on slides 25, 33, 34, 44, 45, 48, 56.
