Moravian Christmas Love Feast and Candle Service – Dec. 7

A Moravian Christmas Love Feast and Candle Service, a tradition brought from Germany to the United States centuries ago by settlers in North Carolina, is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. at the Elon Community Church.

The feast consists of a simple meal of sweet buns and coffee and features seasonal music, including selections rendered by bell choirs, the chancel choir, organ and oboe. A candlelight service forms the climax of this special celebration, as the congregation sings the traditional carol “Morning Star.”

The Love Feast service is held at the Elon Community Church on Williamson Street. All members of the Elon community are welcome.
