Playing Unfair: Representing the Female Athlete March 10

It has been 30 years since Title IX was specified to ensure that educational institutions receiving federal funds provided gender equity in athletic opportunities. Have things changed?

Women and Gender Studies will be hosting a short-film screening, “Playing Unfair,” and panel discussion about the effects of Title IX and the media representation of the female athlete.

Dr. Janie Brown (Professor Emerita of Physical Education), Dr.  Eric Hall (Associate Professor of Exercise Science and Faculty Athletic Representative), Dr. Amy Stringer (Assistant Professor Health and Human Performance), and our moderator Dr. Mandy Gallagher (Assistant Professor of Communications) will help us think about the outcomes of Title IV, as well as the continuing issues related to gender and athletics.

It’s bound to be an interesting conversation, so please encourage your students to attend.

When: March 10, 2:20-4:00 p.m.

Where: LaRose Digital Theatre in Koury Business Center

We look forward to seeing you there!
