Iron Tree Blooming, Elon’s only meditation society, invites the Elon community to come and meditate!
This week’s sit includes speaker L.D. Russell. Russell is a lecturer in the Religious Studies department at Elon. His interests lie in the cross-fertilizations between religion and culture, religion and literature, and the world’s major religions, past and present. He has recently authored the book, Godspeed: Racing Is My Religion, a personal account of experiencing religiosity through the world of NASCAR.
As a lecturer, Russell has educated many Elon students on Zen theory in an academic setting. Less formally, he has been known to try his hand at meditation. We look forward to listening to Russell’s account on his own academic and personal motivations that lead him to search for Zen in the everyday. You don’t want to miss this!
