Senior Broadcast Student Named to UWire 100

Senior broadcast journalism major Mitch Pittman was named to the UWire 100, a selective list of the best and brightest student journalists in the nation.

Mitch Pittman reports live from Reagan International Airport in Washington, D.C., during the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

UWIRE honorees were selected from a pool of more than 825 nominations submitted by professionals, professors and peers from more than 135 schools.

According to the UWIRE Web site, the UWIRE 100 panel “evaluated each candidate based on proven excellence in a field of journalism and the quality and quantity of his or her nominations. Each member of our UWIRE 100 is among the brightest and most promising student journalists in his or her respective fields and shows:
– A proven dedication to both high ethical standards and advancing the field of journalism
– An impressive journalism record with an emphasis on work completed in the 2008-2009 school year
Any college student — undergraduate or graduate — was eligible to become a UWIRE 100 honoree.”

Pittman is a reporter from Phoenix14News, who will graduate in May.
