Business Fellows help landscape local United Way branch

Business Fellows in the Love School of Business recently undertook a service learning project for United Way of Alamance County.

Junior and senior business fellows spent Saturday, April 25, laying mulch, pruning shrubs, and trimming tree limbs around the United Way’s administrative office. For many of the students, the work day fulfilled a requirement of a project management class taught by LSB faculty member Coleman R. Rich.

Assisting the Business Fellows in their field day were Rich, United Way of Alamance County president Cindy Brady, and Mark Danieley, a horticulture extension agent from North Carolina State University, who gave recommendations for the project. Several LSB faculty members offered tools and supplies.

“The best part was seeing how much better the yard looked after we were finished and knowing how pleased Mrs. Brady was,” said student project manager and senior Business Fellow Caleb Beyer. Several of the students involved plan to continue their work and finish building a safety fence on the United Way office grounds.
