Summer Business Institute gives May grads, rising upperclassmen in non-business majors career jump start

The Summer Business Institute gives May graduates, rising seniors, and juniors in non-business majors a valuable opportunity to enhance their marketability. This innovative three-week certificate program offers a broad knowledge of business principles and practices and the chance to gain skills relevant in a variety of professions. In addition, participants will get a customized job search plan as part of the Institute’s curriculum through Elon’s Career Center.

Faculty from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business will engage students in business topics including accounting, finance, management, marketing, strategy, human resources, operations, and business ethics. They’ll also learn relevant career skills in such areas as project management, business communication, selling methodologies, process improvement, personal finance, leadership and team building, Excel, resume writing, and interviewing. These are the same skills sought by all employers.

Sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, from June 2-19. The instructional fee for this certificate program is $4500 and includes tuition, books, and travel to corporate sites (additional fee applies if you choose to live on campus). Deadline for applications is May 20.

To learn how Elon students and graduates can jump start their career,  have your son or daughter attend an information session on May 11 at 5 p.m. in the Koury Business Center, room 145.
