Rebekah James ’09 to serve with AmeriCorps*VISTA in Kentucky

Rebekah James ‘09 will serve for the next year as a member of the AmeriCorps*VISTA Program at Northern Kentucky University, assisting the university in implementing an organized co-curricular community service/volunteerism area.

During her term of volunteer service through Kentucky Campus Compact, James will coordinate ongoing and one-time community service events for student groups and individual volunteers. She will also coordinate the training and direction of the Freshman Service Leadership Committee.

Her term of service extends through July 2010.

Kentucky Campus Compact (KyCC) is a statewide coalition of Kentucky college and university presidents and their institutions, both public and private. Its vision is to help higher education strengthen the Commonwealth’s communities and improve the lives of Kentucky’s citizens.

Founded in 2005, KyCC includes 21 member institutions and is hosted on the campus of Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Ky. The organization was awarded an AmeriCorps*VISTA Program in 2006 by the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency.
