Mary Knight-McKenna, Assistant Professor of Education, and Charity Johansson, Professor of Physical Therapy, presented a poster titled, “The Call Home: Undergraduates Communicating Their Transformative Learning to Family Members” at the 8th Annual International Conference of Transformative Learning held Nov. 18-21 in Bermuda.
As students undergo transformations during their college experiences, they often experience a tension between who they are becoming and who they have been. This tension is sometimes captured in students’ telephone calls to family members. Based on transformative learning interviews conducted by Charity Johansson, Peter Felten, and Mary Knight-McKenna, the poster explores themes revealed in Elon students’ calls home during transformative times. The poster was created with the assistance of Ben McFayden, Instructional Designer and Trainer.
