Applications are available online or in the Kernodle Center for Service Learning in 230 Moseley Center (336)-278-7250. The Kernodle Center for Service Learning will accept applications until the deadline at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
The Helen Cates Scholarship is awarded to a student who has shown true dedication to the service of others and who has demonstrated financial need. *Applicants must be on record with the Office of Financial Planning as having a demonstrated financial need. The $1250 Scholarship is applied directly to the recipient’s tuition account.
As part of the application students are asked to include a short essay (no more than 500 words) that describes how the student has demonstrated and continues to demonstrate a commitment to serving others. Finalists will participate in a brief interview with faculty and staff involved in service learning. Scholarship recipients must be prepared to attend a scholarship dinner on the evening of March 1, 2010.
