Elon’s Student Chapter of NCCTM (North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics) will be sponsoring Michael Pillsbury, a math teacher at Randolph Middle School from Charlotte, N.C., to come speak on Thursday, February 18, from 4:30-5:15 in Duke 202.
Pillsbury will be doing a rope activity that was well received at the state conference that leads into teaching fractions. He will also be discussing with students tips about teaching math as well as answering student questions.
This is a great opportunity for elementary, middle grades, and secondary math pre-service teachers to hear some advice from a current teacher. There will also be free munchies.
