Jessica Gisclair, the associate department chair in the School of Communications, presented her paper "Prescribed ethics: Media coverage of an Olympic sprinter" at the 2010 Joint Conference of the National Popular Culture and American Culture Associations on April 2 in St. Louis, Mo.

The paper examines the media’s framing of the 200-meter sprint competition at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the controversial disqualifications of two athletes in relation to the constraints and benefits of prescribed ethics.
