Chris Fulkerson, assistant vice president for technology/CIO and Rhonda Belton, director of application technologies, presented at the National Datatel Users Group Conference at National Harbour in Maryland on March 30.
Their session, “The Need for a Security Audit,” discussed how institutions of higher education can benefit from a security audit using an external auditor. High level concepts from Elon’s recent security audit were highlighted as a roadmap for conducting a successful audit.
Fulkerson and Belton used findings from an Elon security audit conducted nine years ago and from the audit Elon completed last summer to illustrate how institutions can use audits to focus attention and resources for strengthening the security of the network and systems.
