WGS Movie Screening of “Slut” – April 20

Please join us for the last film in this year’s Women’s and Gender Studies Film Series. Yes, it’s called Slut, and it’s an exploration of that word and its impact on women in our society. After the film, we will chat for a while, of course. Here’s the info.

When: This coming Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Where: McEwen 011

What: “Slut, A Journey to Get a Word Banned”

About the film: It’s just one word – but it is sexist, discriminative, and extremely powerful. Being labeled a ‘slut’ can destroy a woman’s self-perception, irrevocably tarnish her reputation and even drastically alter her destiny. This film explores the root of the word and traces its evolution through interviews with academics, feminists, physicians, and authors, as well as women that were called “slut.”

The discussion afterward will be facilitated by Michelle Trim.
