Elon junior Lauren Ross, a leisure and sport management major, and associate professor Tony Weaver presented a poster titled “A Current Examination of the Historically Black Colleges and University Division I Athletic Directors” at the 2010 Scholarly Conference on College Sport in Chapel Hill, N.C., held from April 21-23.
The presentation detailed a qualitative study implemented to better understand the current phenomena of the Division I HBCU athletic director. HBCU athletic directors were interviewed to discuss the current job profile of an HBCU athletic director, their work environment and reasons for shorter stays.
