A ten-member team from Elon's Imagining the Internet Center and School of Communications was in Washington, D.C., July 21 to produce documentary journalistic coverage at the Internet Governance Forum-USA at the Georgetown University Law Center.

The Imagining the Internet website – http://www.imaginingtheinternet.org – will later host a collection of video clips and written content compiled from IGF-USA 2010.
The Elon documentary journalism team was led by Colin Donohue, coordinator of student media, and included students Kirsten Bennett, Samantha Calvert, Camille DeMere, Bonnie Efird, Anna Johnson, Melissa Kansky, Shea Northcut, and Rebecca Smith and alumnus Morgan Little. The enterprise was planned by associate professor Janna Anderson, a member of the IGF-USA 2010 Steering Committee.
Little and Bennett were also selected by IGF-USA organizers to participate as youth respondents at IGF-USA events. Little was a respondent to a panel titled “Considerations on Youth Online Safety in an Always-Switched-On World.” Bennett participated as a respondent during an afternoon plenary event titled “Outcomes of Scenario Stories: Implications for the Internet Governance Debate and for the IGF.”
IGF-USA 2010 featured dozens of Internet experts who represented government, civil society, the technology/research sector, industry and academia in a discussion to help broaden understanding of emerging issues and identify best practices that can inform global decisions that affect global communications networks.
Among the featured technology leaders at the event were Andrew McLaughlin, deputy chief technology officer for Internet policy for the Obama administration; Danny Weitzner, associate administrator for the Office of Policy Analysis and Development in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA); Larry Strickling, assistant secretary of NTIA; Markus Kummer, executive coordinator of the UN-facilitated global Internet Governance Forum; Jeff Brueggeman, vice president for public policy for AT&T; Steve DelBianco, executive director for the NetChoice Coalition; Jonathan Zuck, president of the Association for Competitive Technology; Sarah Deutsch, vice president and associate general counsel for Verizon Communications; Marc Rotenberg, executive director, Electronic Privacy Information Center; Rebecca McKinnon, co-founder of Global Voices; Leslie Martinkovics, director of international public policy, Verizon Communications; Richard Beaird, senior deputy United States coordinator for international communications and information policy, U.S Department of State
The fifth annual international Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is being hosted by the Government of Lithuania in Vilnius in September. Elon will also be sending a team to document that event.
