Anna Davis '10 has been hired as coordinator of the Greensboro College Village 401 program, an outreach effort to benefit communities in the college's 27401 zip code.
The Village 401 program, part of Greensboro College’s Americorps*VISTA program, encourages students to help struggling members of the greater community become self-sufficient. Davis says college students are particularly adept at helping with literacy and mentoring efforts.
“I think that spending time with a specific community regularly, whether homeless people or disabled people, establishes a personal relationship with people who have no such relationships and need them,” she says.
Davis, a Birmingham, Ala., native, graduated from Elon in May with a degree in communications.
