Summer institute benefits science/math teachers

Elon's Department of Mathematics is hosting the third summer institute titled TEAMS (Teachers Empowering all Students in Mathematics and Science), Aug. 2-6. About 60 elementary and middle school teachers from Alamance-Burlington, Vance and Orange counties are on campus for the institute.

TEAMS focuses on mathematics and science content as well as core concepts such as inquiry, and reading and writing in content areas. It also enhances individual district initiatives using common conversations about effective methods for teaching mathematics and science, and develops teachers as curriculum leaders within each of the partner districts.

The TEAMS Grant is a Math Science Partnership (MSP) Grant from the Department of Education administered through the state of North Carolina.
