NC Dance Alliance Conference Sept. 10-11

Elon’s Department of Performing Arts Dance Program is hosting “NC Dance: Past…Present…Future” the NC Dance Alliance Conference September 10-11.

Registration for classes can be done on-site both Friday and Saturday. Elon dance faculty members Cherie Bower, Gene Medler, Jen Guy Metcalf, Jane Wellford and Lauren Kearns will be teaching a variety of classes and moderating panels. The conference also features teachers from across the state. The registration table will be in the lobby of the Center for the Arts. Friday evening features the future of NC Dance – the college and youth showcase. The concert begins at 7:00 pm in McCrary Theatre. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at the door. Two Elon dance majors – Andi Work and Meg Ralston-Asumendi will be presenting their choreography. Saturday evening features the work of professional dance artists and begins at 6:00 pm in McCrary Theatre. Tickets are $8.00 and are available at the door. Three of Elon’s faculty will be featured – Jen Guy Metcalf, Amy Beasley and Natalie Marrone.

The NC Dance Alliance is a nonprofit statewide organization established in 1982 to serve and support the development of dance in North Carolina. NCDA’s mission is to advance the art form of dance and is grounded in the conviction that the concerns and aspirations of the dance community can be addressed through active, cooperative endeavors. This year’s conference features a full compliment of classes, panels, and concerts.
