Max Negin, an assistant professor in the School of Communications, has a video installation called "Icompositus, Ordo," showing at the Center for Visual Arts in Greensboro.
The work is currently on display as part of a show titled “Art:Unauthorized,” which will run through Oct. 15. “Incompositus, Ordo” is also the third piece of an artist collaborative called Dumpspace that Negin co-founded with a faculty member at the North Carolina A&T University.
According to the formal description of the project, “Incompositus, Ordo” is a multimedia installation that explores the delivery of commercial messages sent in, around and through news and entertainment.
“The ubiquitous nature of various media messages slip in and out of our ability to perceive what is selling, informing, entertaining or some combination of them all,” the description says. “Using a grid of monitors and the space around them, the network of associations grows from the disorder of the barrage of signals. What sense we can make of that chaos can spark dialogue, critique and exchange of ideas.”
The Center for Visual Arts is located at the corner of Market and Davie streets in the Greensboro Cultural Center.
