College Chapel with Professor Jane Wellford – Sept 30

College Chapel
Defining Moments
Thursday 9:50 – 10:20am
Whitley Auditorium

September 30th
Defining Moments: Jane Wellford – Professor of Performing Arts
Music: Caitlin Wang Fleisig ’13, pianist

Please join us this Thursday in Whitley Auditorium for College Chapel! We will continue to hear from speakers about how events in their lives have helped to define who they now are. We will be challenged to consider how past events – personal & public, positive & negative – have shaped and molded our present realities.

Thursday Chapel is a time and space to take a break from the busyness of the week and refresh the spirit. It is not a “worship service,” rather a time of reflection offered by a member of the Elon community or guest speaker. Music is provided each week by students and faculty from the Music department. Refreshments will be served following Chapel. All are welcome!

Jane Wellford is Professor of Performing Arts at Elon University where she teaches in the areas of Dance History, Dance Improvisation, Sacred Dances of the World, Dance and Gender, and Dance Pedagogy. Wellford received her BA in Theatre from St. Andrews Presbyterian College and her MFA in Dance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Professor Wellford has created numerous concert works for Elon University and is founder and director of Moving Liturgy, a professional liturgical dance ensemble, based in Burlington, NC. Moving Liturgy continues to offer a repertory of 245 works to numerous national conferences, arts and religion festivals, and churches for over 22 years. Wellford, who has done extensive research in sacred dance, is a nationally recognized choreographer/consultant in this area.
