Christina Benson presents paper on Iraq and WTO at Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business Conference

Christina Benson, assistant professor of business law in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, presented a paper, "Reviving Ancient Trade Routes: Can Iraq Leverage Trade and the WTO Accession Process to Rebuild its Post Conflict Economy?," at the annual Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business conference, held in Charleston, SC in November.

Benson’s paper addresses how Iraq should actively pursue admission to the World Trade Organization as part of a strategy for expanding international trade opportunities, encouraging foreign investment and diversifying its economy beyond the petroleum sector.

Benson was also selected to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Legal Studies in Business. The JLSB is a triple-blind peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarly articles on business law, financial regulation, social responsibility and business ethics. She will be serving as articles editor for the journal. Benson will be working with Elon School of Law professor Eric Fink on creating opportunities for Elon Law students to serve in student editorial staff positions on the JLSB.
