Week #1 results for RecycleMania 2011

Elon University collected more than 9,600 pounds of material in the first week of the national RecycleMania 2011 contest and is currently in 6th place in North Carolina for the total amount saved from landfills.

RecycleMania week 1 national results for Elon (Feb. 6-12):

Grand Champion Results –   9,603 lbs collected (compared head-to-head by totals collected)

· Placed 170 out of 369 registered participating schools

· 6th out of 15 in North Carolina

· #1 in the Southern Conference (ahead of Furman, UNCG, Western Carolina, The Citadel)

Per Capita Classic Division – 1.43 lbs cumulative

· Placed 147th out of 368 registered participating schools

· 7th out of 15 in North Carolina

· 2nd out of 5 in the Southern Conference

Breakdown:

Paper Collection – .39 cumulative (2,630 lbs collected)

Cardboard Collection – .45 cumulative (3,013 lbs collected)

Plastic / Aluminum / Glass – .59 cumulative (3,960 lbs collected)
