Buffie Longmire-Avital to serve as statistical methodologist for NIH grant project

Buffie Longmire-Avital, an assistant professor of psychology, will serve as the statistical methodologist for a recently funded National Institute on Drug Abuse $200,000 grant. She will be collaborating with Ian Aronson, the primary investigator for the study at the National Development and Research Institutes in New York.

The grant, which is officially titled, “Optimizing Computer-Based Video to Increase HIV Testing in Emergency Departments,” will focus on the feasibility of using customizable computer software on hand-held devices to educated intravenous drug users on the importance of getting an HIV test.

Longmire-Avital wrote the data analysis section for the just funded study and will begin work on this project next fall.
