Second annual Summer Business Institute open to May graduates and current students

The Summer Business Institute provides current students and May graduates in non-business majors with the opportunity to enhance their marketability. Spots remain open for the program from June 1-18, 2011, which provides participants with broad knowledge of business principles and practices.

Hands-on learning experiences ensure that participants gain skills applicable across a wide range of organizations and professions. Interactions with business and community leaders and visits to organizations to hear first-hand about the challenges and opportunities in today’s business environment round out the experience. Students will receive a certificate after successful completion of the course.

Faculty from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business will engage students in the study of business topics including accounting, finance, management, marketing, strategy, human resources, operations, and business ethics. During the Institute, participants will also develop career skills in such areas as project management, selling methodologies, process improvement, personal finance, leadership and team building, resume writing, interviewing, conducting a job search and networking.

The curriculum sessions are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through June 18. Participants receive over 95 hours of instruction, tours, and speakers as part of the Institute.

Information sessions will be held April 5, April 12, April 20, and April 26 at 7 p.m. in KOBC 145.

Registration for applications will be due May 1, 2011. For more information about the Summer Business Institute, go to www.elon.edu/sbi or contact:
