Pride Week: “Brother, Outsider” Film Screening and Discussion – April 13

Wednesday, April 13 – “Brother, Outsider” Film Screening and Discussion

Join Spectrum and the Black Cultural Society as we watch and discuss “Brother, Outsider” as part of Pride Week in the Moseley Commuter Lounge at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.

“Brother, Outsider” is a documentary about Bayard Rustin, who was an active leader within the civil rights movement and friend and adviser of Martin Luther King, Jr. Since then, his role within the movement has been downplayed because of his sexual orientation. You can find more information about the film here: http://rustin.org/. Our discussion will touch on race, sexual orientation, and the intersections between the two, as well as the impact of leaving some voices out of history.
