Hundreds of students attend annual senior picnic

With just three days until they receive their diploma, Elon University seniors gathered Wednesday on the lawn outside Moseley Center for the Senior Class Picnic for Graduates, Faculty and Staff. The annual event gives students a final opportunity to mingle over pork barbecue and chicken with the professors and staff members who have shaped their lives over the past four years.

Seniors had time to relax and enjoy a catered meal on May 18 at the annual Senior Class Picnic for Graduates, Faculty and Staff.

Among the many faces at the picnic were Elon University President Leo M. Lambert and his wife, Laurie, who conversed and dined with students who had filled hundreds of seats under two large white tents near the new Greek houses in the Loy Center.

The event was organized by the Alumni Association with support from the Provost’s Office. Alumni office staff encouraged seniors to join IGNITE, the university’s young alumni giving program, by making a gift to their alma mater.

Cut-out mortarboards dangled from the dining tents with the names of students, parents and grandparents who have contributed to the senior class gift. A balloon archway welcomed visitors to the event.

Hundreds of students, faculty and staff attended the picnic.
